The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca is the successor of the prestigious Higher School of Agriculture of Cluj, founded 145 years ago, in October 1869, under the name of Institute of Agronomic Studies, Cluj-Manastur. In 1906, the Institute reached the Academy level, becoming the Academy of Agriculture of Cluj.


The aspiration towards excellence, inscribed in the mission of USAMV Cluj-Napoca, also comprises the research activity, which, in order to become competitive, started to be organized in strong based research centers with the purpose to polarize and attract internal and international financing. At the moment 9 research centers have been already established, some of which are homologated by the CNCSIS, while others aspire to be homologated and to take part in the formation programs of transnational consortia in order to benefit from the community programs for the integration in the European Research Area(ERA).

Centers and research laboratories

At present, the USAMV centers and research laboratories polarize the activity of an array of postgraduation studies contributing, by the master and PhD specializations, to the training of young worthy researchers, many of which carrying on the tradition and exigency of the school of agronomy of Cluj.

Counselling and analyses

The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca provides counselling and analyses in various research fields.
